The Arab Phase of Geography at the Intersection of Humanities and Exact Sciences (8th-16th Century)

This volume is the result of three research axes developed as part of an institutional project at the CRASC (June 2016 - June 2019), led by Professor Ahmed Djebbar and coordinated by Benaouda Bennaceur. The project, focused on “The Arab Phase of Geography at the Intersection of Humanities and Exact Sciences,” aims to provide the scientific community with historical materials related to pharmacopoeia, botany, trigonometry, and cartography. The findings from this research project led to the creation of two volumes. The first volume deals with pharmacopoeia and botany, while the second addresses trigonometry, particularly the calculation of geographic coordinates and cartographic projections. The geography in this volume is organized around three contributions centered on pharmacopoeia and botany, especially in relation to the geography of plants in the Muslim East and West.
