summary

The process of urbanization can lead to changes in social relationships. In addition to being a demographic phenomenon, due to the significant population concentration in various regions, it is simultaneously a geographical phenomenon that manifests at the regional level. It also has a socio-anthropological dimension due to its role in shaping new social relationships. Today, local communities are undergoing transformations that align with the national model, benefiting from the past through the mobilization of old social alliances and practices associated with them. While social change is a process aimed at bringing about final transformations in the function and organization of society according to the possible conflicts and reconciliations between local groups, the old social classes may find themselves having to adapt in order to avoid extinction in the face of the emergence of new social groups. Social change at the local level cannot be confined to a single domain, whether political, economic, religious, local, or national. Each domain has its own logic, while also overlapping with other domains.
